The Opportunity

On behalf of our client, a leading Professional services firm, Red Tree are recruiting a Risk and Compliance Manager. This is a new opportunity within the organisation to develop and implement a risk and compliance strategy and compliance framework.

The Role

Regulatory Compliance / Professional Standards

  • Develop a compliance plan to satisfy Irish regulatory requirements
  • Help with any regulatory issues and professional standards as necessary
  • Ensure that all breaches are recorded and reported where appropriate

Data Protection

  • Review, update and communicate the companies data protection policies
  • Establish mechanisms and processes for managing and coordinating subject access requests and provide advice on contentious data subject requests
  • Ensure data protection considerations are embedded within the Firms development Lifecycle/project management methodology
  • Determine need to conduct DPIA and assess risks and nature of processing
  • Collect and produce quarterly operational data protection metrics and associated reports


  • Ensure a robust conflict policy is in place and understood by the firm
  • Ensure all staff are trained in how to conduct conflict checks
  • Advise on conflicts of interest liaising key stakeholders as appropriate

Enterprise Risk Management

  • Regularly review and update the Risk Register

Due Diligence / Terms of Engagement

  • Review and advise on suitability of bespoke client terms of engagement or any changes to standard T&C’s which the firm may be requested to adopt
  • In conjunction with Business Service Heads, carry out due diligence on suppliers and assist with contract negotiation
  • Assist the Executive Committee with project management around the firm’s expansion plans including opening new offices and entering new associations


  • Deliver induction training for new joiners on data protection, risk management and compliance including the client inception, conflicts, AML and ABC processes
  • Work with the L&D Manager to develop a training programme

Financial Crime (AML, ABC, Fraud, Sanctions, Insider dealing)

  • Understand and ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external rules regulations and procedures relating to AML
  • Attend AML conferences and seminars and advise firm on where AML controls should be improved

Candidate Profile / Experience

Education and Experience

  • Educated to degree level
  • Experience working in a risk and compliance role, ideally in a professional services environment

Knowledge and Skills

  • Expertise in data protection laws and practices including an in depth understanding of the GDPR
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and team at all levels
  • Able to manage a range of projects effectively to completion
  • Shares knowledge across the team and provides ongoing instruction and support
  • Calm and professional in the face of competing demands
  • Approaches challenges logically, identifying issues in complex situations and communication solutions effectively
  • An eye for detail and consistency
  • Self-starter with the ability to prioritise and use own initiative
